What are the benefits of WAG
Hi,
What are the benefits we can derived from a WAG network. I need some details on the same. As this one is going to be implemented on the phones in future rather than the traditional technology so it is better to find out some details on the same. Do you think mobile data Transferees by A-GPS will be marketed through traditional DATA packages or packages specific to technology. Does it is accurate and what changes does it has.

An A-GPS or Assisted GPS or AGPS or WAG (Wireless Assisted GPS), GPS uses the operator to help the mobile terminal to know which GPS signals must be followed. With this assistance, the signal search conducted by the terminal is greatly reduced. The time required for the initial connection or TTFF (Time To First Fix) increases from several minutes to just seconds. Moreover, unlike traditional GPS receivers, the receiver A-GPS integrated in the terminal is able to detect and demodulate signals of very low magnitude.

Here you can understand the positioning accuracy of the A-GPS technology. The standard GPS positioning is very effective in open environments with a clear view skyward. However, this performance deteriorates significantly in dense urban areas and inside buildings. Parallel to GPS, other positioning technologies are used by mobile operators such as Cell-ID (identification of the cell), but they do not provide sufficient accuracy (300 m in urban area several kilometers in rural areas ) for a navigation service.

Using the A-GPS technology provides operators with location data more accurate than Cell-ID and in places where GPS does not usually. For example, the server 8608 Alcatel has proven its efficiency in both urban and rural areas and provides an accuracy of about 3 to 5 meters outdoors. From the operators, location systems have been deployed by some operators in the year 2004. LBS services have not yet really penetrated. This can be explained by the lack of precision of location technologies such as cell ID or triangulation.

The development of A-GPS was nevertheless important during this period and seems to continue for the next years to come. The year 2005 will see the commercialization of many mobile phone models A-GPS (Motorola, Nokia, Alcatel, Siemens). With Maporama, 1Km route is 1K of data transferred. You can then package with a classic continue to benefit both moderate use in A-GPS but also use other traditional web applications, including video and music.

This will depend on the type of application chosen. I do not see an operator to charge for sending an A-GPS position in case of distress. What to value, they are not particularly transmitted data but rather the services offered around. The technology is really It is a promising technology in terms of services that may be offered to individuals or businesses.
