There is a software called FripTV Which is freeware from Sourceforge to streaming TV in Linux. It is capable of streaming high definition TV on your Laptop. This software is still in developing phase and may be add some additional feature after some time. ffmpeg is decode the video to HD. It also support mpeg2 video.

I am also using Frip TV for viewing TV on my PC. It is a opensource based IP TV player. It is supported and runs on Windows XP and Linux. IT supports h264 transport and MPEG2 streams. The latest version of this software is 0.20. So i will make sure it will also run on your laptop. Try and reply if you found any issue.

Globe7 Internet TV is Linux based internet TV software. It is combined VOIP and Internet TV support software. It is more advanced than Frip TV. It is compatible with all linux operating system like Redhat, Suse, Fedora and Ubuntu. It will support with intel 1.7 GHz CPU and AMD athlon processor. It is not 100 % free if you use VOIP service must set up account and pay for that.

If you are using Globe7, Watch hundreds of Free to Air TV Channels from your PC absolutely Free. The advantage of Globe7’s VOIP service must setup an account and pay before use. The VOIP system is just like the service that provided by Skype and allows unlimited incoming calls from other PCs, landlines and mobiles. So you can do multitask with the help of Globe7. It can be downloaded ftom site Globe7.

If you have good internet connection , you have to use Free TV in your internet browser. There are many sites they provide free TV service, You just need to plug in for display. You do not need to install any software or hardware for using this. If you found any issue, reply me.
