Re: Backup your Gmail data
There are many ways to backup your data on google. I will mention one of it.
Here's how to download a copy of every message* in Gmail to an mail client:
1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page, and open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
3. Select Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded).
4. Click Save Changes.
5. Open the mail client you've configured for Gmail, and check for new messages.
Gmail messages are downloaded in batches, so it may take time for everything to appear in your mail client.

Re: Backup your Gmail data on Mac OS
If you want to download all your data to mac operating system, then follow these simple steps.
1. Download and install getmail
2. After that configure your Gmail and getmail.
3. After configuring your Gmail and getmail, run you getmail.
4. You have to run the getmail using command “getmail -r”
5. The bad news is that Gmail allow to download only 99 email at one time
6. So for downloading other messages you have to run the same script again.

Re: How to backup Gmail data on Mac OS and Other OS?
I will suggest you to go for Gmail Backup utility which is available on the internet.
This is tool for taking backup from your Gmail data. This is an ultimate tool for doing backup of your Gmail account. After downloading the Gmail Backup upgrades this utility with “Gmail Backup 0.107”. This version contains all the bug fixes which were left in the previous version of Gmail Backup. I will strongly recommend that upgrade your Gmail Backup utility.
